Friday, 13 November 2020 - 5.00pm
Location:
Online webinar

On Friday 13 November 2020, at 5pm, CPLC and 3CL will jointly host a seminar by Zoom to debate the Supreme Court’s fascinating judgments in Marex Financial Ltd v Sevilleja [2020] UKSC 31 about the nature of shares, meaning of loss, the ways of managing double recovery, and many other things too. We are fortunate to be joined by counsel from each side of the appeal – George Bompas QC and Richard Greenberg – as well as Alan Steinfeld QC, who appeared in Johnson v Gore-Wood, the previous occasion on which reflective loss was considered by the House of Lords. Commenting from an academic perspective, we are delighted to welcome Paul Davies from Oxford as well as Sarah Worthington to represent the home side. We hope that the short reflections from each of the panellists will be followed by a lively debate amongst all participants.

The seminar is invitation-only and open to Faculty members and doctoral students (particularly those working in private or company law), but not undergraduates or LLM students. Email wad24@cam.ac.uk to obtain a link to attend.
